Art overwhelms me

It’s true-I confess. The piece of a painting here is from a work in
the National Gallery in DC.
It overwhelms me-this small section of abstract art boggles my mind,
this little snippet..fascinates me.

Maybe even more so than the entire original painting.
(I saw it all, was blown away, focused on this small area and grabbed a pic.)

I heard once that “Art, true art, is a story”.
Now I get that!

Much like any conversation-I am fixed on the part that has the highest
personal value to me, I locked into that portion and literally carried
it around with me!
(I’ve had this photo on my iPhone for almost a month.)

This makes me wonder:
How do people absorb art on a mass scale? How do they work in
galleries, teach art history, etc?!
..my brain couldn’t deal.

Twitter and Information Overload

I’ve become a serious Twitter user, meaning I have started tweeting industry related info with the purpose of sharing knowledge. I showed a friend my TweetDeck and her comment was “..whoa-that looks like the control board to the universe..” Exactly-because that’s what Twitter is, my universe of interests shared with others who have similar interests. The overwhelming thing is that it is just a small drop of what is really out there.

The thing that has truly amazed me is how much information I can skim through and how easy burn out is for me. Especially when I jump into design sites that involve Flash, or CSS-it’s like spending the day visiting mini-museums and entire worlds that can only be truly appreciated by lingering there.

A bonus is that sometimes, these “industry friends” that share my professional interests give their followers a look into their personal life and the strange thoughts that might pop into their head. I can appreciate this, it’s like a breathe of fresh air amidst the usual blahbabbly “Click here for the newest smarty news.”
