Social Art

I don’t know how to classify these effected photos me and many other people are snapping and sharing from their mobile gadgets. I can see my very open minded photography teacher frantically waving his arms and crying out:

“Art! Just call it art!”

But I don’t know.

I always equate “art” with sacrifice, dirty hands, and bankruptcy. Could it really be this easy?

I think we’ve entered a new age in digital creativity made possible by a new process. The playing field of who makes art and how is being leveled.

Seems to me that there is very little formal training actually needed, only a basic knowledge of a simple tool, time to practice and instinct.

Is this where we’re headed? Will social art and creation become respected artform, a tool?

Will Instagram one day be taught as a college course?
