#instameaning Day 29 Understanding My Self Worth

It’s amazing how I take electricity for granted. It powers our homes, provides entertainment and even keeps life support machines pumping. It’s basically magic.

Yet I only consider its value when it’s not there.

What other amazing things am I not considerate of until reminded?
Until they’re gone.

Do I clarify my own value wherever possible? Do I properly advocate for myself at all times?

NO I do not.

That is why I value services like LinkedIn. I have some very excellent recommendations on LinkedIn and when I explore new opportunities I tend to read through these recs to remember what I exactly offer.

I need to look at myself objectively and sing my qualities from the rooftops. If I don’t, who else will?

#instameaning Day 27: Information Architected

Today I had my NYU Information Architecture 1 students start businesses. I assigned the CEOs by whomever showed up for class earliest and had these “CEOs” take 30 seconds to invent a web service.

After a card sorting excercise, the business’ CEOs swapped teams and explained the business and it’s taxonomy to the other teams.

Once the idea was explained, the CEOs borrowed new ideas from the opposite teams and headed back to their home teams to reveal the wireframes they had sketched, as well as new ideas crafted.

It was a smart, energetic and creative group and I totally enjoyed working with them today!

My favorite comment from a student today:
“This is fun, I wasn’t expecting this to be fun.”

#instameaning Day 26 Progress

My site redesign is underway. At first the old design was going to be rebuilt using responsive CSS, but then I started changing the layout, color and well everything else. Stepping out of a design app for this is a liberating experience, scary but liberating!
